There is no one human justice system where I come from. Every city, state, and country has their own rules, and which one applies to you varies according to the severity of the crime and where it was committed. Sometimes jurisdictions overlap, too, and you can escape a worst punishment by committing an even worse crime in a place that has less stringent penalties.
