Dick Grayson 002 Ⓡ video

[The Pokegear snaps on, and Dick, in a nice waiter's shirt, slumps down against a wall and sighs.]

So this is, uh, ridiculously embarrassing.

[His hair's slicked back, too, and he's loosening a little bow tie with his other hand. Tugging at it with a little more force than strictly necessary.]

Exactly, um. Does anyone have any tips for how to... like, not go broke? How do people keep track of money? How do you not run out?

I plead lack of maturity, lack of understanding of the value of a... whatever the unit of currency is here, I don't even know.

And yeah, okay, if you all want a good laugh at my expense, my foster father is a billionaire, both through inheritance and being the CEO of a worldwide corporation. Go ahead, I've heard all the rich kid jokes and I don't really care, I'd just be grateful, in return, for a little--

[There's a voice yelling in the distance, something about not being paid to take breaks; Dick jumps up and shuts off the feed immediately. He does have a work ethic, okay, he was a circus performer until he was nine, but that money was all put in the bank.]

I am glad then. [ Not many boys were lucky enough to be adopted into a good family. ]

I am an orphan as well. My father died in a war back home.

essentially, there's no loss, then. No wrong answer, I mean, and if I get one, I might be able to breed for the other.

Gotta admit, Technician sounds incredible for actual battling. Like an opening to subvert expectations.

So this is kind of the perfect adventure for you?

Seriously worth it. I'm wondering how it could possibly be legal tender if an animal materializes it, but I ultimately don't care. Gift horses and all that.

Without a doubt. It's still the most useful time increment I can wrap my head around.

Are there Pokemon in Olivine who enjoy the shock treatment? Still, that's progress.

[He remembers how much he liked beating people up at first... Couldn't stop laughing at them.]

...I'm pretty sure that one Krabby has made it its life goal to defeat him in a single duel as the sun sets over the beach. You can see the pride in its eyes. Close enough?
islandshore: (yeah right)

The legal system here's a heaping mess... along with everything else when you really think about it. I mean, they're letting little kids run around with super powered monsters that can spew fire hotter than the sun. That's a little alarming, don't you think?

Already making the best of whatever hand you're dealt, hm? I'm impressed.

In my experience, Technician is the sort of skill that tends to be the signature of a smart fighter, not just a forceful one. And fighting intelligently does come with its advantages around here; the gym leaders will often agree to modified rules or unorthodox forms of battle if you ask for it during your challenge. That's a good way of maximizing your own chances of victory — particularly if you've trained a team good at working together in innovative ways.

I kinda like the low profile, honestly. I live in a huge city back home. This is pleasant.

Boring, but pleasant.

There are a lot of different ways to be independent, I don't think you should take it too hard.

That's really thoughtful and kind of you.

Before forever. You need to be confident if you wanna learn.

Sandwiches and soup, easiest things. There's not a lot of worry about prepping any parts. All about having good ingredients and taste.

It must be. I live in a big city back home as well, but each place here got their own appeal. Probably why I haven't pick a place to settle down in yet.

I don't think it will be an actual problem. If I had to guess then maybe a week and a half? We'll have to spend at least three days on the ferry.

[But, eh, wait, what? Have some intelligent blinking.]

... Move slots?
artofthestress: (oh right that)

[personal profile] artofthestress 2013-05-22 01:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh my! I hadn't thought to stand on a human's other pair of legs!

[ She pauses mid-thought. ] Would you excuse me for a moment? [ She hastily puts the pokegear down, and runs offscreen. There's a minute or two of silence, then a loud THUMP. ]

Well, that's not nearly as easy as it looks. [ She appears back onscreen, rubbing her head. ] I know a certain daredevil pony who might be interested in learning how to do that.
nasa_dreams: (Well that was strangely lucky./Good Save)

[personal profile] nasa_dreams 2013-05-22 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Because it's stupid. I mean, I had the bright idea to take my team to Mcdonalds.

Well, it was supposed to introduce a guy from a world with out 'em to the glory of the Big Mac.

I can't exactly call Mulligan and start over, you know? It just seems the most pragmatic strategy.

Great. I'll challenge them all to a buyout. Whoever spends the most money in least amount of time, wins. Double points for accessorizing with Pokemon.

Be careful what you wish for. Whitney in Goldenrod City, for example, might actually take you up on that bet — and give you a run for your money, besides.
